A Green Christmas @ Brown Library

A "Green" Christmas @ Brown Library

Thanks to the Montessori Preschool of Washington, the children's area of Brown Library is celebrating a very "green" holiday season. The youngsters have created a Christmas tree, complete with decorations, from recycled products!

The Christmas tree itself is an impressive stack of painted 2-liter soda and water bottles. Recycled CDs, painted and decorated with feathers, become cheery cardinals sitting on its branches. A bright star, a reindeer, festive snowmen, and holiday wall decorations complete the wintery scene.

Drop by the library and enjoy our "green" Christmas!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Premiere Party!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Premiere Party!

Back in November, Brown Library hosted our very own "Harry Potter Month" to celebrate the release of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1". We had month-long contests, showed all the Harry Potter movies (1 - 6 at least!), and ended it with a bang with our very own premiere party. We'd like to thank all of you who showed up for the party, and a very special thank you to those who joined us for the movies each and every time! You guys made it all worth it!

The winners for the month-long contests were:

Coloring Contest:
Katie Brickhouse and Abby Midyette
Poster Contest: Adam Midyette
Costume Contest: Adam Midyette and Abby Midyette
Writing Contest: Anna Frisbie
Triva Contest: Anna Frisbie, Heather Frisbie, and Jorge Olivas

Below are a few pictures from the premiere party!

Costume Contest winners, Adam and Abby Midyette. Adam (though not in full costume here) came as a scary Dementor (guards of the Wizarding World prison, Azkaban). Abby came as a delightful young witch.

Zoe Davenport, a charming young Gryffindor student.

The treasure trove of prizes given out at the party to our contest winners.

We were delighted to have the entire Frisbie family turn out! Pictured from left to right, clockwise: Stella, James, Heather, and Anna.

Here are a few of the winners of the contests who showed up for the party (from left to right): Anna Frisbie (Writing and Trivia); Abby Midyette (Coloring and Costume); Jorge Olivas (Trivia); and Adam Midyette (Poster and Costume).

Thank you again to everyone who made "Harry Potter Month" a fantastic experience!
