Saturday Matinees

The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss, Saturday, March 5th, @ 12 noon!

The Dr. Seuss program on March 2nd may have been cancelled, but the extra even for Saturday is still on! Come join us on March 5th, at 12 p.m. noon for a showing of "The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss". We will be showing a few episodes from the hit tv show, and also serving cookies and punch!

Full of delightful puppets and cute, Dr. Seuss-inspired stories, "The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss" is sure to entertain the kids! We will be showing three episodes, including "Cat's Play", "The King's Beard", and "A Bird's Guide to Health". In "Cat's Play", everyone pretends to be pirates, and they imagine great adventures. In "The King's Beard", King Lindy of Lime has a beard so long that no one knows just how long it is. And in "A Bird's Guide to Health", Little Cat Z is sick, and Terrence is afraid he'll catch his cold.

There is no sign-up to attend this movie, but we do encourage you to show up at least fifteen minutes early to guarantee yourself a seat, since we have limited seating. This film is Not Rated, and is appropriate for all ages.

Saturday Matinees

The Brothers Grimm, Saturday, February 26th, @ 12 noon!

To celebrate the birthday of Wilhelm Grimm, one of the famous Grimm brothers, join us on Saturday, February 26th, at 12 p.m. noon for "The Brothers Grimm"!

Saturday Matinees

My Fellow Americans, Saturday, February 19th, @ 12 noon!

To celebrate President's Day, we will be shoiwng "My Fellow Americans" on Saturday, February 19th, at 12 p.m. noon!

Read Across America Day Celebration

Join us for silly fun as we celebrate Read Across America Day in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday!

Kids ages 6-12, accompanied by a parent, are invited to enjoy Seuss stories, tongue twisters, games, and refreshments, upstairs on Wednesday, March 2nd, 4:30 - 5:00.

And if you're on a budget, don't worry! The event is free!

Saturday Matinees

Invictus, Saturday, February 5th, @ 12 noon!

Join us on Saturday, Febraury 5th, at 12 p.m. noon for the return of our Saturday Matinees. In celebration of "Black History Month", our first movie is "Invictus".

2011 FOBL Book Sale

The winter booksale hosted by the Friends of the Brown Library is right around the corner! It will he at the Washington Civic Center once again, just right down the road from Brown Library. Here are the upcoming dates:

Thursday, January 20th, 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm
This day is reserved for members of the Friends of the Brown Library only!

Friday, January 21st, through Saturday, January 22nd, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
These days are open to the public.

Sunday, January 23rd, 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m.
The last haul - the books-by-the-bag day! This day is open to the public as well.
